Historic Porch Window Restoration
This historic home was built when Mercer Island was a place where many vacation homes were built to get away from Seattle’s hustle and bustle. Back then, the only access was by ferry across Lake Washington.
This project consisted of taking out the old window sash and bringing them to the shop for repairs and restoration. It also needed a new sill and some wall rebuilding from years of decay. The challenge with this was to ensure the sill was straight to the eye as many of the wall sections below the windows had sagged or settled over time inconsistently. The sash was restored, reglazed and then reinstalled with new trim stops.
A neat project with a rich history. Not to mention, an awesome location!
