Historic Home Front Stair With Traditional Architectural Side Boxes
This little historic front porch stair replication with its large architectural side boxes wrapped in siding and capped provides a nice entry that isn’t overwhelmed by the large front of the home. Many front porches in Seattle were done this way, but many have degraded and rotted away with time and usually replaced with an ugly stair that doesn’t match the original, or done in a concrete or brick. In this case we opted to use vertical grain cedar, milled to the sizes we needed. You can also see the box caps in the shop being made to fit. All material was pre primed by hand on all sides with an oil base “slow dry” primer before installation. Projects like these are always don under cover, summer or winter for quality, defined working area, and keeping the weather out. if you are looking for quality carpentry craftsmanship to match your historic and vintage home Westbrook may be good fit for you!
