New Porch & Railing Rebuild
This new home was built about 14 years prior. The porches, stairs and railings out back and on the side we rotting away so badly that the owner needed to have them rebuilt. This was a good opportunity to film and write an article showing why building Best Practice is so important.
The existing was built incorrectly using interior materials and improper techniques. We simply removed the existing and started all over again using pressure treated framing, Azek PVC for ground contact, iron wood decking and risers, cedar for the railings and posts, stainless steel fashioners, and the proper layering. There is no stopping decay when using natural wood on an exterior. I mean, nothing lasts forever but with proper Best Practice technique and maintenance, it will last much longer for sure.
