I do a lot of rot repairs or rebuilding of modern wood windows in my wood shop. It’s a craftsman service I provide in my wood shop for home owners and contractors alike. With this modern Marvin wood window repair I totally rebuilt the lower sections of the sash in my wood shop. Modern wood windows decay much faster than historic windows. What usually happens is that several modern wood windows on a home will decay, but because manufacturers stop making a series of windows after about 10 years, owners don’t have any options to purchase new windows to match. So, homeowners are either relegated to purchase windows that don’t match their home, or they must purchase a whole new windows package for their home in order to have consistency costing many thousands. This is because they can’t get the original manufacturer to match the windows they have. Typically, there are only a few modern windows on a home that decay to the point where they need to come out to my shop and be repaired or rebuilt to match. It amazes me that window manufactures can get away with changing their windows every 10 years or so. If you’re remodeling or need to replace one for any reason your usually out of luck to get something that matches. That’s where I can come in. I’ll have to warn you that to custom make or repair a modern wood window is not particularly cheap, but it’s a whole lot less expensive than replacing all your windows.
