I work on a lot of historic windows and historic wood sash, its one of my specialties as a master carpenter and long time renovation contractor. My carpentry shop is used for restorative work.  It’s a controlled environment where I can make new parts or modify existing sash, easily since I have all the right equipment and cutter heads at my fingertips this allows me to do a wide variety of historic window replication and restoration work.

this project is a double hung sash restoration, deep repair, part replication and re rope with an operational tune. I’m really only showing the shop work which is about 75 percent of the work and where the magic happens anyway. You can see from the photos, that a Dutchman is done on the stiles removing the decay and replacing with VG fir. Also, seen are new stiles, and rails and a muntin bar. These are mortice and tenon joinery with exact profiles to match existing. In one photo you can see the decay, which is reason enough for a replication piece to be made. Also a photo show the replacement parts against the original profiles, this shows how exact the new profiles are with the original. This type of work take a lot of tooling and experience, but Westbrook has you covered!
