Historic Window Sash with Art Glass Seattle
I custom made this Seattle historic home window sash in my wood shop to fit into an existing opening that had an aluminum window retrofitted in that looked awful. I removed the existing and installed traditional millwork on the interior to match the rest of the historic home. Because this is a transom window looking into the living room the owner wanted artistic art glass that would catch the sunlight casting it into the space to create an element of magic. To do this we worked with Annapurna Stained Glass in Seattle who designed, and custom made the glass panel to what the owner wanted. The link to their website is below. The historic wood sash was made with traditional mortice and tenon joinery, profiling, and vertical grain fir. It’s best to make the sash first to be sure the glass panel is made to fit right. This window was a small portion of a larger historic window and millwork project I did in the shop and installed in Seattle’s Magnolia neighborhood.
