Historic Post Modifications
These historic posts were brought to Westbrook’s wood shop for modifications by a customer who picked them up from an Architectural salvage outlet, to be used in a remodel. They needed to be cut down and have a plinth block with a profile added to the top and bottom. The making of the blocks were done from a solid piece of fir and profiled using a classic profile cutter. The posts being a taper, had to be cradled in a sled to ensure the cuts were square with the centerline otherwise the blocks parallel. This is no easy task, but can be done perfectly with the right tools and knowledge as you can see. The client was very happy, and enjoyed visiting the shop. If you have any repairs, modifications, or new projects needing done, you are welcome to drop them off at Westbrooks carpentry wood shop!
