Custom Built Cedar Balustrade
This custom built cedar balustrade by Westbrook Carpentry and Millwork started in the shop milling the pieces needed for assembly. The spindles were special ordered from a suppler and stored in the shop until the project. The rest of the material was purchased at various suppliers in Seattle and brought to the shop for our final mill and assembly. The railing was carefully measured in the field and an as built drawing made so that when we are in the shop we have a reference when manufacturing. Most of our projects are done in this way, if we can, as it saves time and creates a better quality product within a controlled environment!
Biscuits and glue were used to mull the posts to the panels to save any seen screw heads. All parts were pre primed with an oil base primer before assembly. Once assembled the railing was transported to the project, and installed in place of the old decaying railing.
