Westbrook Carpentry & Millwork is perfectly suited to custom make and install all kinds of Seattle historic windows and millwork period rebuilds. It’s because I do all the work in my woodshop, from removal to rebuild, and installation at your home. I start by setting up and removing the existing window and bringing it to my shop so I can measure and match the profiling needed to be period rebuilt exactly. Then I manufacture the mortice and tenon joinery, mill up custom trim through my machines with matching profiles, and make custom wood window sash to match. I then make traditional storm sash and build the appropriate window jamb to match. This historic window project was made to match exactly to the 1920’s style of a historic home in Seattle’s Roanoke neighborhood. As you can see from the photos that the window location in the front makes it an important archectural feature in keeping with the style of the home. Also, in ensuring a historic period build exactly to match, ensures that the historical archectural value of the home is preserved. An interesting portion of the millwork was custom making the radius trim and keystone in my shop and installing to fit above the window to match the existing exactly. You can see from the close-up photos of the millwork joinery how precise I must be with all the joints coming together in such a small group. Not easy for sure, but with the proper knowledge, woodshop space, machines and field tooling, the craftsmanship that was put into the original home is something I can achieve today.  It means the value of this Seattle historic home, and its windows are maintained and preserved for future generations.
