Historic Storm Sash Arch Top
These three traditionally made wood storm sash are for a historic home in the Roanoke neighborhood of Seattle as part of a bigger ongoing project. I custom made these in my wood shop and installed in my client’s home. You cans see from the photos there is a lot of work that goes into manufacturing traditional historic storm sash with arch or radiused tops. These are custom measured, manufactured and installed all by me. This not only provides exceptional quality workmanship through the process, but also in the final product. Like all my historic window reproduction and repair projects I use vertical grain fir. I work the fir in such a way as to take out any warps or bows so the final material is very straight, stable and exactly the right thickness. There is a variety of machines used for this, but the most important thing is to view and sort the material beforehand. I’m looking at grain pattern, bows, warps, and orientation for running direction into the machines. These are just some of the steps in manufacturing custom historic window sash. It’s been my experience that real quality is attention to working the details for any project. That quality can be seen in this historic storm sash arch top project from start to finish! Feel free to contact me any time for historic home windows in Seattle and greater Puget sound area in pacific north west Washington.
