At Westbrooks carpentry wood shop does all kinds of wood repairs, even to more modern windows. This aluminum wood clad Marvin window, was brought to the shop by a customer in need. Because Marvin doesn’t make these windows any longer, it becomes impossible to find a new window to match. To keep the continuity of all the rest of the windows in the house which are fine and don’t need replacement a repair is critically necessary. Well, in this case anyway. As you can see from the photos I had to separate the aluminum from the wood, and make a new profiled jamb piece to match the existing exactly. I also had to remove the decay, and assemble everything back together into a fixed sash window. Originally it was an awning operational window. If you have more modern wood windows in your home it may be impossible to match them, requiring you to bring the window into our shop for a repair or replication.
