Historic Porch Custom Stairs By Westbrook in Seattle

This custom built historic home porch winder staircase in Seattle, was a real joy to build! The stairs were a feature of the larger porch project that Westbrook built as seen in the photo above. It took all the qualities it takes, to execute a custom millwork project like this. Westbrook is a kind of design build custom craftsman carpentry company, focusing on historic homes and unique millwork projects. With a project like this we use all our experience and tooling to provide our clients with the best of what quality should be. It’s not just the hands on workmanship, but also the quality of the process in working with Westbrook. Our focus is providing a personalized working relationship with our clients directly with master carpenter Daniel Westbrook. This eliminates the bureaucracy of larger contractor firms, or managing architect/designer separately. A much better value for the dollar spent by far and is a good fit for many custom carpentry projects requiring a master craftsman’s experience. Part of that experience is management, communication, design knowledge, building knowledge, tooling, and certainly the management of a renovation business in all that entails.

The stair case component of this project is no exception to the above. We make and work off of full sized drawings so all joinery from framing to finish will work seamlessly as it’s intended. Framing for structure, and finish carpentry for design.
“I always give thanks for my family of clientele. So come and join Westbrook! I’m looking forward to working with you”
Daniel J Westbrook

At Westbrook we are not afraid of showing the work in progress in real time. In this photo you can see a typical onsite project set up, which is basically like a field shop. This keeps the weather out, defines the work space, keeps dust, and over spray from drifting where it shouldn’t, and provides material storage among many other things. There is no other way to execute quality or build a project like this out in the open.
